Jamaal McDell

Mr. McDell joined RBC Rocdale in October 2025 and brings over 17 years of commodities investing experience to the firm. He performs fundamental analysis for the equity strategies with a focus on Materials and Non-Energy Commodities.

Before joining Rochdale, Mr. McDell was a Senior Analyst at Balyasny Asset Management where he focused on agricultural commodities.  Prior to that, he was a Vice President and Senior Analyst at Cohen & Steers where he specialized in base and precious metals. Before Cohen & Steers, Jamaal spent eight years as a Senior Analyst at the commodity futures hedge fund Lubben Capital Management assessing opportunities across the grains and oilseeds complex, metals, soft commodities, livestock, and energy. He began his investing career as a basic materials equity research analyst at Suffolk Capital Management.

Jamaal has a BSE from Princeton University in Operations Research & Financial Engineering, cum laude, with a minor in Applied Mathematics and an MA from Harvard University in Social Psychology.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, running, and traveling with his wife and two children.
